Shah Rukh Khan Leads UK’s 2023 South Asian Celebrity List
Shah Rukh Khan, the iconic Bollywood star, clinched the top spot on the UK’s ‘Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World’ list for 2023. Known as the King Khan, the 58-year-old actor achieved this recognition following the success of his action thrillers ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ this year. The list, compiled by UK weekly Eastern Eye, applauds individuals for their impactful work and inspirational contributions throughout the year.
Alia Bhatt secured the second position for her significant influence in both Bollywood and Hollywood, serving as a role model for working mothers. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, holding the third spot, was recognized for her groundbreaking international work, including the big-budget series ‘Citadel’ and Hollywood film ‘Love Again,’ alongside her humanitarian efforts.
Diljit Dosanjh claimed the fourth position as the leading Punjabi star, showcasing remarkable performances as an actor and singer. Charli XCX, a UK-based singer of South Asian heritage, ranked fifth for her global success with hit singles and blockbuster live performances.
Ranbir Kapoor followed in sixth place for his impactful performance in the blockbuster hit ‘Animal.’ Shreya Ghoshal secured the seventh spot, enjoying another award-winning year with outstanding songs in various languages and her role as a judge on ‘Indian Idol’ (season 14). Vijay, the biggest South Indian cinema star of 2023, earned the eighth position with hits like ‘Leo’ and ‘Varisu,’ inspiring fans with his humility.
Wahaj Ali, a Pakistani actor, claimed the ninth spot, recognized for his strong performances, including the record-breaking serial ‘Tere Bin.’ Canadian actor Iman Vellani rounded off the top ten for her leading role in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Marvels.’
The diverse list features the oldest star, 81-year-old Amitabh Bachchan (35th), and the youngest, 20-year-old television star Sumbul Touqeer (44th). Sumbul expressed her pride in being the youngest on the list, emphasizing the importance of inspiring others on their journey.
