We have OTT players like Netflix, and Amazon Prime, to name a few that have been in the market ever since. In a recent interview that Vicky Kaushal did on a YouTube channel, the ace actor who recently did Sam Bahadur and Dunki told the viewers that if it weren’t for the power of OTT, his film Masaan, which was released in 2015, would have not gained popularity. A film that didn’t get much recognition when was released in theatres received immense attraction when it was released on OTT.

In another interview on YouTube, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that OTT changed the level of her performance a notch higher as she felt that with Jaane Jaan, she was making her debut since it was released on OTT, the movie was going to be viewed much up close and personal by the audiences.

Regional platforms like Chaupal, where you can stream your latest content in Punjabi, Haryanvi, Bhojpuri, and Rajasthani, have also gained a lot of popularity since its launch in 2021. From five to six Punjabi movies being released a decade back, now we have fifty to sixty Punjabi movies being released per year. It’s an interesting fact to note that seventy percent of all these movies come on the OTT platform Chaupal.

Prince Kanwaljit, who has done notable work in projects like Panchhi, Outlaw, and Zila Sangrur remarked “OTT platforms like Chaupal gave a boost to my career. With my offbeat roles like Panchhi, Pargat in Zila Sangrur, or Jeeta in Outlaw, I rose to greater heights in my career which before OTT platforms like Chaupal were stagnant. With OTT, More and more people saw my work and appreciated it. Now I’m doing Plaster, as a writer, which is also a Chaupal original.”

Parmish Verma, a well-known singer, director, and actor, said “OTT has become an essential part of our lives. Be it TV shows or movies, we all consume OTT all the time. My first Punjabi thriller web series Silence is coming out on OTT Chaupal soon. Had it not been for the rise in popularity of web series and OTT platforms, my dream of acting in one would not have been possible.”

Nitin Gupta, Chief Content Officer, Chaupal on the same remarked “We are living in an era where consumption of entertainment daily has become a staple. We want to consume content that is relevant as well as entertaining. Going to theatres has been a part of our social life since the first movie came out.
